2051 The members of the Mutual Defence Treaty 2 (MDT2), United Commonwealth of Planets (UCP) [Humans], Vargary Federation (VF), Lyonies Federation (LF), & Drey (DC) continue their peace negotiations with the Blurgiss Empire (BE) at Papa50-3.

The 1st World War on the pre-space flight planet of Innocence continues. The Commonwealth Defence Force (CDF) of the UCP continues to observe the war & remains ready to intervene if atomic weapons are used.

Elsewhere within the Military Restriction Zone (MRZ) all remains quiet.

2052 Eden, who’s population reaches 3 billion, places restriction on immigration. UCP drops colony migration programs to Eden as a result. UCP also drops migration support programs to Utopia & Sierra. The programs, however, remain for the other planets within the UCP

The world war on Innocence finishes. CDF reports that 100 million of Innocence’s citizens were killed due to the war.

President Daniel McBride is re-elected UCP president.

The Olympic Games are held on Utopia. DC send their first team. Eden win the most gold medals followed by VF & China. While on a visit to the planet’s Nature Reserves, one of the USA’s teams buses is attacked by local dinosaurs. Six members are killed & eaten while the rest of the team fight for their lives.

2053 United Planets Expositions (UPX) announce that two of the dead planets (D5 & D7) within the MRZ were not destroyed by the BE. Analysis suggests that thousands of primitive nuclear weapons were responsible. UPX concludes that a nuclear war occurred between each planet’s respective nations.

Negotiations at Papa50-3 break down, but it is understood that the status quo remains.

2054 Commonwealth Health Commission (CHC), after intense research into radiation on Duel, announce that some of the dead planets in the MRZ could be rehabilitated & colonised. UCP gives the go ahead & D2 is selected.

CHC & UPX begin rehabilitation of D2.

Commonwealth Police Service (CPS) intercepts a small trading vessel of unknown origin on the open inward border. It is discovered that there are 389 slave refuges from BE. During the debriefing , horrifying stories are told of the life of the BE slave. They also discover that a revolt took place on the slave planet Morab, which was ruthlessly crushed. More than 1 billion slaves where killed by the BE when they repressed the rebellion.

CPS inform secretly the UCP of their findings. The UCP leadership is outraged by the stories of torture, rapes & killings of the various slave populations. VF, LF, & DC governments are quickly informed. All express similar outrage.

UCP sends a communique to the BE. There is no reply.

2055 More Morab refuges make the UCP border. Again they tell CPS similar stories as the first arrivals.

The combined fleet in the MRZ (InComFt) goes on alert as refuges begin to arrive at the MRZ border.

UCP send another communique to the BE. The BE reply & agree to reopen negotiations at Papa50-3 next year.

Earth’s population has remained at 5.6 billion.

Eden’s population reaches 3.1 billion

Utopia’s population reaches 430 million

Sierra’s population reaches 159 million

Saturn Prime’s population reaches 63 million.

Pacifica’s population reaches 14 million.

Duel’s population remains at 6 million.

Australis’s population reaches 6 million.

Omega’s population remains at 3 million

Barrens’ population remains at 2 million

Mars, Alpha Four, Earth Moon, other small colonies & ships population reaches 37 million

2056 UCP & BE meet at Papa50-3 over the refuge issue. No agreement is reached.

More Morab refuges arrive. There are now some 10 000 of them. Refuge camps are set up on Barrens, but no one really knows what to do with them.

CHC & UPX results on D2 are very encouraging. They jointly announce that D2 could become habitable by 2062. The planet is renamed Phoenix.

UCP gives permission for the process to be conducted to another dead planet. D6, some 15 light years from D1, is selected. D6 is renamed Renaissance.

The Olympic Games is held in USA, Earth. VL wins the most gold medals, followed by the USA & Eden.

2057 Negotiations at Papa50-3 breaks up over threats of war. The VF battlecruiser Vol'Tohm'Dor mistakenly arrived in the Papa50 system while the UCP Lance battlecruiser was still in the system. This is violation of the negotiation agreement & BE acts accordingly.

In the UCP presidential elections, Mary Sullivan of Ireland wins the Presidency on an "isolation" policy. UCP drops all protests over the Morab refuges.

2058 UPX discover a habitable planet 25 light years from Duel. It is similar to Sierra & has four moons. UPX name it Locus. UCP immediately annexes Locus & the surrounding space. The border is extended from Duel & CDF is ordered to patrol the area. The planet, however, is not opened to colonisation. UPX & CDF, though, both establish bases.

Slave refuges pour across the UPC & RMZ borders. 20 000 are housed on Barrens. VF raises the issue with the UCP. Sullivan bypasses the issue not wishing to confront the BE.

2059 CDF reports to UCP that BE activity has been identified along the MRZ border.

BE at the same time sends a communique indicating that they are conducting a security operation. What they do not say is that refuges are being hunted down while trying to cross into the MRZ. Some 3 000 Morab are killed.

UCP orders the CDF & InComFt to hold in place & not provoke the BE.

Refuges continue to arrive at the open inward border.

2060 BE cruisers, while in pursuit of a refuge ship, cross the border into the MRZ. InComFt units intercept the refuge ship & 3 BE cruisers. A stand off takes place. President Sullivan orders the InComFt to hand over the refuges to the BE. This is done in secret.

The VF, LF & DC quietly protest Sullivan’s order, but to no avail.

Refuge numbers rise to 30 000.

The Olympic Games is held on Eden. The opening ceremony is marred when protesters hiss Sullivan over her "isolation" policy. Eden wins convincingly the most gold medals, followed by VF & Utopia.

2061 CPS, investigating accusations made by refuges, discovers the MRZ "arrangement" between InComFt & BE. Several more refuge ships have been handed back to the BE. CPS reports this, believing the situation to be illegal, to the UCP. CPS is told to drop the investigation.

CPS Commissioner Evett goes public with the information. She is dismissed for her actions

The public are outraged & demand Sullivan’s resignation & a reversal of this policy. Sullivan refuses.

2062 In an ugly Presidential election, Sullivan is narrowly defeated by the Eden candidate Shara Goldworthy. Goldworthy immediately reverses Sullivan’s "isolation" policy & orders CDF to protect refuges & repel all BE intrusions.

It does not take long for an incident to occur on the border. Shots are exchanged between InComFt & BE ships, but the BE withdraws before any ships are lost.

Phoenix is opened for colonisation, but no one takes up the offer. CHC ensures the public that all is safe, yet colonists, remembering the problems on Duel, stay away.

UCP extends the border into the MRZ to include both Phoenix & Renaissance within UCP proper.

Planet D1 remains in the MRZ where the Next Generation Weapons (NGW) program releases a new fighter five times more powerful than current designs.

BE sends UCP a communique wishing to reopen negotiations at Papa50-3

2063 UCP transfers the Morab refuges from Barrens to Phoenix. There are now some 50 000 refuges.

In an historical first, all are offered full citizenship in the UCP. Although aliens have had full travel & trade access throughout the UCP, thanks to the Common Confederation of Planets (CCP), UCP citizenship was solely reserved for humans.

The UCP delegation to Papa50-3 arrive late, and just as well too. At the time contact was supposed to take place, five BE battlecruisers arrive at Papa50-3 hoping to attack the UCP Sabre. The BE ships are detected & are attacked by InComFt ships based nearby. More BE ships arrive & an encounter battle develops. Each side rushes reinforcements to the growing battle. Days go by as battle stops & starts when the next wave of forces arrive. Finally a massive counterattack by the new NGW fighters forces the BE to withdraw.

InComFt has lost 50% of its forces in the battle. BE has lost more, but they have clearly indicated an improvement in ship designs & tactics.

MDT2 reserves move into the MRZ.

CDF orders new ships to replace their loses. UCP prepares for a long war with the BE.

2064 President Goldworthly declares a call to arm to free the slaves. Among the first volunteers are 5 000 Morab ex-slaves from Phoenix.

InComFt is reorganised into three fleets. 1st MDT2 Fleet (1MF) is made up of 4th & 5th CDF Fleets. 2nd MDT2 Fleet (2MF) is made up of all MDT2 members. The original InComFt remains & continues to defend the MRZ.

1MF & 2MF cautiously cross the MRZ border & head towards the BE.

The Olympic Games is sombrely held on Australis. VF narrowly wins the most gold medals over Eden & DC.

2065 1MF & 2MF meet considerable resistance as the BE border is crossed. 2 planets are discovered & are coded Bravo1 & Bravo2. Intense battles occur at each planet, but the BE fleets are defeated. The surviving BE ships flee & land battles take place.

Both Bravo1 & 2 are quickly taken. Both are slave planets. Both become free.

The inhabitants of Bravo1 are the Gollare. Those on Bravo2 are know as the Lill. UCP announces aid to both planets.

MDT2 casualties have been high, particularly to land forces, and it is decided to halt & consolidate.

Earth’s population has remained at 5.6 billion.

Eden’s population reaches 3.8 billion

Utopia’s population reaches 813 million

Sierra’s population reaches 188 million

Saturn Prime’s population reaches 70 million.

Pacifica’s population reaches 15 million.

Duel’s population reaches 7 million.

Australis’s population reaches 7 million.

Omega’s population reaches 4 million

Barrens’ population reaches 3 million

Pheonix population reaches 250 000

Mars, Alpha Four, Earth Moon, other small colonies & ships population reaches 42 million

2066 Millions of Gollare & Lill volunteer to join the forces of their liberators, but MDT2 has no policy on this issue. After much debate, the volunteers are accepted into the land forces. Within weeks, 10 million are in training camps.

CHC arrives on Gollare & Lill to commence health services. They collect evidence of the dreadful treatment conducted by the BE. This confirms the earlier stories of the Phoenix refuges.

NGW warships are produced in record numbers and sent to the front.

MDT2 organises a further 2 fleets to operate in BE territory (3MF & 4MF).

Only a few skirmishes occur between MDT2 & BE forces.

2067 A BE fleet attacks the 2MF at Lill. Fighting is savage. 2MF finally defeats the BE, but not before its loses ensure that offensive action is impossible.

4MF advances into BE territory & discovers a planet coded Bravo3. The BE defend B3 & succeed in forcing a stalemate.

In the Presidential elections, President Goldworthy is overwhelmingly returned to office due to her "liberation" policy.

At UCP insistance, the Freedom Federation (FF) is established. It is intended that, as slave planets are liberated, they will join the FF.

FF signs the MDT2.

2068 3MF arrives at B3 & attacks the BE fleet which is forced to withdraw. The ground invasion soon begins by FF forces. The FF gets no where & suffers 1 million casualties.

B3 is heavily defended by its inhabitants, the Wazzen. The Wazzen are Honour Citizens of the BE & one of their staunched allies.

1MF comes across a dead planet. A few Phoenix refuges, serving with 1MF, identify the planet as Morab.

The Olympic Games is held on Sierra. It is not very popular as news from the war front is depressing. LF wins the most gold medals over CD & then China.

2069 Fighting continues on Wazzen. The FF make gains, but at considerable cost. The BE try to break the blockade, but are defeated in their attempt.

1MF comes across a slave planet that is virtually undefended. The few BE ships & personnel evacuate immediately.

UCP land forces quickly liberate a people called the Clay. The Clay join the FF.

2070 The Liberation War, as the latest conflict becomes know as, continues. The Wazzen continue to hold out although about half the planet is taken by the FF.

BE fleet attacks the 2MF again as it advanced into unknown BE territory. 2MF is defeated & limps back to Lill.

4MF is attacked as it discovers another slave planet. The BE, using local knowledge, launches a surprise attack from a large gas giant & defeats 4MF in the process. 4MF retreats in disorder to Wazzen.

2071 The Wazzen are finally defeated. BE, upon hearing the news, offers a cease fire. MDT2 accepts the offer.

Both sides begin to consolidate their positions & build up their depleted forces.

With the lessons learnt from the front, updated NGW ships are designed & commissioned.

2072 The cease fire remains in place. Replacements reach the front lines.

CHC reports to UCP its analysis of BE treatment of slaves.

UCP sets up the Commonwealth War Crimes Tribunal (CWCT). CWCT sends CPS investigators to collect evidence & interview the ex-slaves.

In the UCP elections, Utopian David Himulah Presidential candidate, narrowly wins on the liberation platform. He requests the BE for negotiations. There is no reply.

2073 The cease fire is broken when a BE fleet fights its way through to Wazzen. 3MF & 4MF fight the BE to a standstill while on the planet, FF forces defeat an invasion force.

2MF also come under attack at Lill, but defeat the BE forces.

1MF conducts a sweep over a 25 light year area from Clay, but they encounter nothing.

For the first time in history, more humans live off Earth than on it

2074 MDT2 establish another fleet based around the CDF 6 fleet (5MF).

5MF counter attacks the BE at Wazzen. The BE are defeated & withdraw. FF forces on Wazzen secure the planet & turn it into a fortress.

FF launches its space fleet. It is recognised as 6MF, but is split up & patrols the rear areas & supply lines. This releases CDF, VF, DC & LF ships which head for the front.

The Olympic Games is held on Earth in various countries. Few people are enthusiastic. DC narrowly wins the most gold medals over Utopia & Eden.

2075 1MF discovers a slave planet as it advances from Clay. BE gives battle, but eventually withdraw. FF land forces invade & quickly liberates the planet. The people are known as the Jovaous.

Jovaous join the FF.

Elsewhere the fronts remain stable.

Despite the war, the economy of the CCP has reached record levels. The money spent on war equipment & ships has been a boom to industry at all levels. Although the Olympic Games has suffered, other cultural endeavours have greatly accelerated. Some of the finest pieces of literature & academic works are being produced. Public discussion on various issues is rich & full. The vast majority of citizens take a deep interest in an idealistic future after the war. There is a clear strengthening of bonds between the members of the CCP.

CCP Commission (CCPC), considering the mood of the population, suggests that the time has arrived where the next step in the integration process should take place. All members agree to negotiations.

Earth’s population reaches 5.8 billion.

Eden’s population reaches 4.2 billion

Utopia’s population reaches 980 million

Sierra’s population reaches 197 million

Saturn Prime’s population reaches 78 million.

Pacifica’s population reaches 16 million.

Duel’s population reaches 8 million.

2076 MDT2 open offences on all fronts. The BE defend with tenacity & repel all attacks.

BE call for a cease fire which is granted.

Some UCP citizens call for Locus to be opened for colonisation. During the struggles, issues such has these have been forgotten. Now that a cease fire is in place, UCP agrees but drops all colonial immigration support. Many colonists migrate, nonetheless, to Locus, while Phoenix remains only popular with the Morab refuges. Phoenix becomes unique in the UCP.

Phoenix population increases to 1 million, thanks mostly to survivors of Morab found recently destroyed by the BE.

President Himulah calls for negotiations, but there is no reply.

2077 The cease fire remains in place, but there are no negotiations.

President Himulah is re-elected for a second term. It is a clear sign to the BE that UCP is more than willing to continue the Liberation War if need be.

FF continues to build up its forces. FF land forces reach 20 million in number. That is more than the combined total of the other MDT2 members land forces.

CCPC announce the next integration step. CCP members will have a referendum in order to approve the reforms. These are a shared economic exchange unit, a shared legal system (but separate police services), & an elected Oversight Committee (OC). The UCP, VF, LF, & DC all retain their sovereignty. The CCP will become known as the Confederate Planetary Community (CPC). A Commissioner, selected by rotation from the CPC members, will run the CPC with the OC acting as a Parliament. CPC has no military or legislative powers.

2078 The cease fire remains in place.

CCP members vote on the referendum. The results are close, especially in the UCP, but all four members vote yes. The CPC will come into effect in 2082.

FF establish a second space fleet. It is mostly made up of older CDF ships. Unlike their first fleet, it operates as a complete until. It is designated 7MF.

The Olympic Games is again held on Earth. Now that peace has lasted a few years, people use the opportunity to celebrate. A small team from the FF compete for the first time. The Games are a complete success & the FF team does extremely well. Eden narrowly wins the most gold medals over DC & VF.

2079 The war starts again. 7MF intercepts the BE heading for Lill. The fighting is furious, savage & desperate. The FF fleet, although outnumbered, fight with determination. The BE are forced to retreat, but the 7MF has paid a heavy price.

The other main MDT2 fleets advance after the 7MF victory. BE, however, are ready & their defences are successful.

3MF comes across another Honour Citizen planet called Quotos. Battle commences & both sides feed reinforcements into the carnage. Over the period of the space engagements, elements from the 4MF, 5MF & 6MF join the 3MF, in the biggest space battle to date. The BE continue to hold however.

7MF is rebuilt at Lill.

2080 The struggle at Quotos continues with neither side gaining an advantage. Casualties are high as is evident from the wreckage spread the entire system.

7MF goes onto the offensive & discovers another slave planet as it advances. BE attacks are easily repulsed & a planet invasion is successful. It is the first sole FF operation that liberates fellow slaves. The people are the Braggah.

The Braggah immediately join the FF.

CWCT, after an extremely long process, makes it first report. Its conclusions surprises no one as the BE are described as racist & evil. The CWCT charge the BE with "crimes against sentient beings". Among several of the specific charges, genocide tops the list.

2081 The FF, more than satisfied with the CWCT findings, call for the Death Penalty to those found guilty. Only the UCP gives support, knowing personally what it has been like to suffer at the hand of the BE. UCP is also somewhat trapped by their sentences handed out to BE prisoners almost 100 years ago.

UPX report that another world war has started again on Innocence. However, everyone is too busy to notice, including the UCP.

Battles rage back & forth along the various fronts. At Quotos, the EB finally withdraw. FF land forces invade, but progress is limited. The fighting is savage, particularly by the Braggah troops, for it was Quotos troops who savagely policed Braggah for centuries.

2082 The CPC officially replaces the CCP. Despite the Liberation War, celebrations are enjoyed throughout the CPC.

The Battle of Quotos continues. Casualities are high, but half the planet is taken. Several Braggah troops are arrested for murdering civilians. Although tensions become strained between CPC & FF over this issue, all sides realise that the BE are the enemy.

UCP elections take place amongst the celebrations. The German presidential candidate Eno Hessin wins by the closest margin ever over Eden candidate Taylor Menjin.

The Olympic Games, as part of the CPC celebrations, is held for the first time outside of the UCP. Vargary has this honour. It is not surprising then, that the VF team wins the most gold medals. Eden is followed by LF.

2083 Quotos falls to the MDT2 forces. BE try to counterattack at Quotos, but are repulsed.

1MF liberates another slave planet called Wongon. BE forces retreat offering no resistance. Elsewhere all is quiet.

Wongon joins the FF.

CWCT hands down its first judgements in numerous cases. Although most captured BE get life sentences, the most evil are sentenced to Death. Although the VF & LF object to this verdict, UCP, DC & FF support it, albeit FF protests that all those found guilty should be executed for their crimes.

The CPC hands out its first "enlightenment" prizes to "citizens" of the CPC. These prizes become, within a short period of time, the highest honour that a CPC "citizen" can achieve. Among the 4 winners (one award per sovereign member) is Bock B’laree, a Phoenix Morab, for his epic novel describing his people’s struggle (see Selected works of Bock B'laree).

2084 BE launches its greatest offensive to date. MDT2 forces are pushed back everywhere.

7MF becomes isolated around Braggah & refuses to withdraw. The FF will not surrender one of its members without dying themselves. Better to be dead than not free.

BE fleets attack Braggah, but 7MF heroically repulses the attacks.

5MF tries to fight its way through to Braggah, but is unsuccessful.

Wongon comes under BE attack, but are seen off.

The front stabilises, with both sides exhausted.

2085 BE fleets attack Braggah again, but the 7MF stoically holds its ground. Casualties are high. One more BE attack, however, and the 7MF will cease to exist.

6MF is concentrated &, along with 5MF, launches an offensive towards Braggah. The fighting is desperate.

A general MDT2 offensive begins on all other fronts. The BE are soon in retreat back to their 2083 lines & the situation becomes stable again. 7MF & Braggah are saved.

NGW inform UCP that a weapon of massive destruction is not far from being operational. Its code name is BlackStar.

Earth’s population lowers to 5.5 billion.

Eden’s population reaches 4.8 billion

Utopia’s population reaches 1.35 billion

Sierra’s population reaches 223 million

Saturn Prime’s population reaches 87 million.

Pacifica’s population reaches 17 million.

Australis’s population reaches 9 million.

Duel’s population remains at 8 million.

Omega’s population remains 4 million

Barrens’ population remains 3 million

Pheonix population reaches 2 million (1.75 million Morabs)

Mars, Alpha Four, Earth Moon, other small colonies & ships population reaches 60 million

2086 The Liberation War remains stable as neither side commences any offensive action.

Despite the war, life within the CPC flourishes. Culture & sports, thanks to the Olympics, flows back & forth between the various planets. Mixed marriages become more common, although offspring are either adopted or IVF programs are used.

Again the Olympics are hosted, away from UCP territory, by the Drey. The DC team wins the most gold, followed by Eden & Utopia.

2087 President Eno Hessin is defeated by the Saturn Prime candidate Kylie Xhaismong.

The Liberation War continues, but again all the fronts remain quiet.

The World Soccer Federation, which is actually spread across the CPC, finally recognises this fact & renames itself the Cosmos Soccer Federation (CSF). It announces that the World Cup, now Cosmos Cup (CC), will be played next year on Eden. The is the first time the Cup has been played off Earth

2088 MDT2 begin offensive campaigns all along the BE front. Most attacks become stalled, but 2MF fights its way through the BE lines & reaches a slave planet. Although the BE fight hard, the slave planet Buckhoo is liberated.

Buckhoo join the FF.

Despite the war, the CC on Eden is a thorough success. China defeats Eden 1-0 in the final. Teams from VF, LF, DC & FF are all involved.

UPX detects three atomic detonations on Innocence & reports this to UCP.

UCP orders CDF to intervene, but CDF is too busy. By the time CDF get some ships to Innocence, the war has finished.

CDF & UPX report that only three atomic bombs were dropped at the end of Innocence’s 2nd World War. It is thought that some 350 million citizens of Innocence perished in the war.

Many in the UCP are saddened by events on Innocence, but events quickly ensures that Innocence’s problems are forgotten.

2089 The offensive campaigns of the previous year resume. 2MF is repulsed & forced back to Buckhoo. 6MF, now a fully fledged combat fleet, re-enforces 2MF & successfully defends Buckhoo.

The BE defend the rest of the front & manage to hold on.

MDT2 offer a cease fire, but negotiations must follow. BE accept & agree to meet in a system coded Motel10 some 4 light years from Buckoo. One battlecruiser per side, as previously arranged, is permitted.

The meeting takes place. The third planet in the system (Motel10-3) is selected as a diplomatic base & the conditions that operated at Papa50-3 are applied.

2090 Negotiations begin at Motel10-3. And they almost end the day they begin. The FF delegation are out for blood & a split almost occurs between the FF & the rest of their allies in the MDT2. FF settle down, however, & negotiations begin.

Peace celebrations break out around the CPC & FF. The leaders though, thankful that the fighting has stopped, are not as confident as their fellow citizens.

CHC informs the UCP that Renaissance is habitable. As part of the celebrations, UCP opens Renaissance for colonisation. Few people, though, take up the offer.

The year finishes with the Olympic Games being held by the LF. It surprises no one that the LF wins the most medals. Everyone is surprised, though, that FF comes in second followed by Sierra.

2091 Negotiations at Motel10-3 continue & appear promising.

Millions of military personnel are dismissed from duty & return home. Many CDF personnel are offered free settlement, land & employment on Renaissance & Locus. Four million colonists settle on Renaissance, which has been modelled on Earth, while 1 million settle on Locus.

CHC announce all health concerns on Duel have been finally dealt with. Cases of the Looney Duel Toons have almost ceased.

CHC also reports that no health problems exist on Phoenix or Renaissance. However, only surviving Morabs & returning military immigrate to either planet.

2092 BE agree to some conditions at the Motel10-3 negotiations. The BE are prepared to recognised the FF, but the CPC members must withdraw most of their forces. BE, however, will not free the other slave planets.

Prosperity continues to flourish throughout the CPC. Aid continues to flow into the FF.

FF rebuilding programs start to make an impact on the respective member planets.

Wazzen & Quotos remain occupied by the FF, but some consideration for local autonomy begin negotiations between the MDT2 members & planet representatives.

The CC is hosted on Sierra. The host planet is defeated in the first round. Utopia defeats VF in the final 3-2.

President Kylie Xhaismong is re-elected.

2093 Negotiations continue at Motel10-3. The two main sticking points remain: CPC withdrawal & the freeing of the slaves. FF refuses to compromise on either issue.

The Complete Works of Shakespeare holds the record for the most editions sold. Henry V becomes the most popular production throughout the FF.

A modern VF writer Dishen V’ah’Pack wins the CPC "enlightenment" award for his Complete Works(see Selected works of Dishen V’ah’Pack). He is considered by many to be the next Shakespeare.

2094 The Olympic Games are held on Renaissance. They are paid in full by the UCP, who uses the occasion trying to encourage immigration to the planet. Although the Games has the largest number of competitors ever, crowd numbers are down. Eden wins the most gold medals followed by LF & DC.

Eden restricts further its immigration numbers as the local born continue to push its population up. Eden’s population is now almost the same as Earth’s & the environment is beginning to deteriorate as a result.

Negotiations at Motel10-3 continue with no compromises.

2095 Negotiations at Motel10-3 break up. No treaty is signed, although it is agreed that a cease fire will continue. The border, though, is most definitely closed.

Although the MDT2 forces have reduced in size, updated NGW ships are deployed in all space fleets including the two FF fleets.

Both the 6MF & 7MF begin to patrol the border with BE, while the remaining fleets are held in reserve throughout the FF.

Wazzen & Quotos are granted local autonomy. They begin negotiations between themselves & the FF about further independence leading to a Wazzen-Quotos Union.

Earth’s population remains at 5.5 billion.

Eden’s population reaches 5.3 billion

Utopia’s population reaches 1.7 billion

Sierra’s population reaches 250 million

Saturn Prime’s population reaches 99 million.

Pacifica’s population reaches 18 million.

Australis’s population reaches 10 million.

Duel’s population remains at 8 million.

Renaissance’s population reaches 5 million

Omega’s population remains 4 million

Barrens’ population remains 3 million

Pheonix’ population reaches 3 million (2.5 million Morabs)

Locus’ population reaches 2 million

Mars, Alpha Four, Earth Moon, other small colonies & ships population lowers to 50 million

2096> All remains quiet on the BE front as the cease fire holds. Several communiques are sent back & forth, but there are no signs of war.

NGW finally tests BlackStar. The results shock the leaders of the participating members. NGW is ordered to halt all research into BlackStar & dismantle any other devises.

The CC is hosted on Phoenix. The UCP, like with the previous Olympics, foots the bill. It is the largest CC held to date, but the crowds stay away (albeit they are larger than the Olympics). Surprisingly Phoenix does extremely well making the final. Sadly the fairy tale stops as the home side is defeated 4-0. UK wins the CC.

2097 Representatives from Phoenix, Renaissance & Locus are, for the first time, included in the UCP elections. Bock B’laree becomes the first non-human to take a seat in the UCP Assembly.

The presidential candidate from USA, David Wilson, defeats Eden candidate Gwen Lobuhtho. Wilson pledges never again will the evils of war control the destinies of liberty. He requests the BE to reopen negotiations.

2098 CPC Commissioner recommends that the next step to integration should be considered. Phase two has been a total success, & the CPC members have all greatly benefited as a result. The different sovereign members defer any decision to negotiation.

BE accepts Wilson’s call to reopen negotiations. The diplomats begin talks again on Motel10-3. However, the same issues remain unresolved.

The Olympic Games return to Athens Earth. They become the most successful Games Earth has ever hosted. Athens puts on cultural events from antiquity. Visitors, both human & alien, are marvelled more by the richness of Greek culture than by the Games. Eden wins the most gold medals, followed by Russia & China.

2099 The negotiations at Motel10-3 break down. Neither side is willing to compromise on the two central issues; the freeing of the slaves & the withdrawal of forces from the FF. The cease fire holds.

The CPC negotiations transfer to Athens. They are fascinated by Ancient Greece & the powerful myths surrounding this period of human history. Nothing more moves them than the ideals of the Golden Age. The non-human members consider Athens to thus be the cradle of humanity. They consider it a positive omen for the future.

2100 All is quiet on the BE front. The UCP is at its zenith - its Golden Age.

CPC negotiations come to a conclusion. The reforms, however, are not overly significant. CPC Commissioner powers will be increased, but each member will remain sovereign. Basically the CPC can make laws independent of the sovereign members which, although they have the right to veto, must do so within a specified time. If no sovereign government vetos CPC legislation, it automatically becomes law throughout the CPC. Phase 3 will be put before the citizens as a referendum in 2102.

The CC is hosted by Eden. For the first time, Eden defeats VF in a penalty shoot out (4-3) after a final score in extra time of 2-2. It is considered one of the great soccer games of all time.
