Germany’s
Full War Glory What if Hitler allowed Speer full power after the fall of Poland? What Really Happened:
Hitler decided that his country did not need to do this to win the war against
France, the USSR and Britain. He won against France, could not finish Britain,
and eventually lost to the USSR. What might have happened:
Hitler once and a while was smart, so he decides that war against three powers
even one at a time would take a lot of time and power. He puts Albert Speer in
charge of the German economy after Poland falls. Instead of killing thousands of
poles and jews, Speer convinces Hitler to use them for Germany’s war economy.
With a larger man power to build off, Speer makes a lot of Panzer 4 tanks
quickly. The Germans still attack Denmark and Norway on April 9, 1940, but with
more planes and a few extra armor divisions, Denmark gives up right away (like
OTL) and defeats Norway on May 25, 1940. Meanwhile, on May 5th, 1940,
the Germans invade Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, and France. In OTL Hitler
had 2.5 million men, 2500 modern tanks, and 2500 modern planes. In our ATL Speer
produces roughly 5,000 tanks, 5,000 planes which really devastate the French a
few days sooner meaning France falls June 20th 1940. With the extra
tanks, Germany also sends a couple armor divisions into Dunkirk killing
thousands of French and British soldiers. The French are pushed into the same
treaty as OTL. With the Germans even more powerful and
deadlier, they decide to crush Britain and the Battle of Britain starts July 1st.
The Luftwaffe makes its first major assault July 30th and devastates
the RAF. With many more planes Germany defeats the brave British pilots and
destroys many planes. With the British air force crippled and the u-boats
starting to strangle Britain, Hitler launches operation sea lion on August 24th,
the same day the German battleship Bismarck comes into service. With the help of
the Bismarck, the Germans land 30,000 Germans, 2,000 tanks and begin the slow
but costly push towards London. On September 1st, without the
extra 350,000 soldiers from Dunkirk, the British fall as the Germans have pushed
into London, which makes the British sue for peace. The Germans demands are
harsh stating that Iraq, Egypt, Newfoundland and Persia become Germany’s.
Canada, India and Australia become totally independent, and the entire royal
navy is handed over to the Germans. With the end of Britain, Germany is able to
focus all their attention to the USSR. In Italy, Mussolini decides to get
Italians in at the same time as OTL (a more powerful Germany would most likely
make Mussolini declare war sooner) and attacks France and bombs Malta. Mussolini
makes France surrender June 22nd, 1940. When France falls, Mussolini
decides to make the “Roman Empire” alive again with the Mediterranean as
Italy’s pond. Mussolini attacks on August 1st Somalia which Britain
quickly leaves as more pressing matters are happening. Italy takes Somalia after
heavy casualties on August 23rd. Mussolini plans the invasion of Egypt
for September 2nd (He attacked Egypt September 13th, in
OTL but with Germany almost at London…) to deny Hitler the canal but as
Mussolini’s luck would have it, Britain surrenders September 1st.
Mussolini is furious with the treaty stating Germany gets Egypt but does not
press the matter. Instead he decides to invade the rest of North Africa and talk
to Hitler later for Egypt. The attack into Tunisia and Algeria
starts September 15th, and quickly bogs down. The Italians quickly
turn to Germany for help. Hitler with a lot more tanks and planes sends Erwin
Rommel arrives in North Africa with 120,000 soldiers, 850 tanks, and 600 planes
(OTL Rommel had 390 tanks and 320 planes) and quite quickly captures Tunis, the
capital of Tunisia by October 3rd and stops for a day for supplies to
catch up. On October 5th, the African Corps began the attack again
quickly forcing Vicky French soldiers to full out retreat. The French try to
stand on October 10th on the Algiers Line (from Algiers to desert)
but Rommels African Corps (AC) devastate the French causing thousands of deaths
for them and surprising light deaths for the AC. The Italians claim Algeria and
Tunisia on October 23rd and Hitler now focusing more attention to the
Soviet Union allows Mussolini to celebrate. Greece (with no British ally),
Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey (after offering a few battle cruisers
originally of the royal navy) all declare loyal ship to Hitler and the Nazi’s. With all of Europe in control of Hitler,
Operation Barbarossa comes closer and closer to being set off. On December 9th
1940, Italy, Japan, and Germany, sign the tripartite, which the Germans hope
will keep USA out of the war until the USSR is defeated. Italy starts rebuilding
its economy with its new land, which raises the Italian morale slightly above
pre-war levels. Germany, under Albert Speer, produces much more tanks and planes
without losing them like OTL. By May 1st, 1941, the beginning of
Operation Barbarossa, the Germans have 10,000 tanks, 15,000 planes, and 3.5
million men (OTL had 3,400 tanks, and 3 million men (more since soldiers in west
not needed as much)). With a quick bang at midnight of May 1st, the German army makes a quick assault against the red army. In 1 day the Luftwaffe destroys 2000 planes of the red army on the ground. On May 6th, the Germans reach the city of Minsk, having traveled 200 miles, and making 15 soviet divisions surrender after being surrounded. May 9th, sees Stalin calling for the Scorched Earth Policy. On May 19th, the Germans cross the Dnieper River, while on May 23rd, the Germans capture Smolensk and 300,000 soviet soldiers. May 23rd, advances halt for infantry and supplies a small chance to catch up. Meanwhile the Soviets attack killing 1 German for every dozen Soviets in futile counter attacks. The Germans continue the advance with north sector surrounding Leningrad on June 25th, and the center group heads just south of Moscow capturing Kiev on July 23rd, capturing 750,000 soviets, the largest number ever in any war. Hitler then tells center group to resume towards Moscow. September 5th sees Germany
capturing Kharkov, the Russian winter cold starting, and on October 4th,
Operation Typhoon starts the attack on Moscow against defending Soviets and
General Zhukov. After 2 months hard fighting the Germans finally crack the
Soviets and take Moscow. The Germans have taken the prized Soviet capital and
Soviet morale greatly falls. In the last offense of the year, the Germans push
from Moscow eastwards 10km to seal the capitals fate. Meanwhile the south sees a
great leap in distance from October 9th to December 7th.
The attack south was 100km west of Stalingrad when terrible news struck Hitler
and the Germans finishing the Germans offense and continuation of supplying
winter clothing (started October 8th). The Japanese for two years fought many
battles against the Chinese but could never finish them off. The Japanese knew
their only option was to drive south and to do that they had to keep the USA
out. Unfortunately for the Americans, they had transferred most of their ships
and carriers to the Pacific when Britain fell. On December 7th the
Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor destroying 18 of 24 battleships, all 6 battle
cruisers and of the 7 carriers, 4 was sunk including the USS Yorktown and USS
Enterprise(They were in Pearl Harbor refueling as more carriers scouted Pacific
ocean). The Japanese attacked the Americans a
day after Moscow fell, showing that the Japanese navy was a very powerful force.
The success was a total success but the Japanese (on the second wave) lost tons
more planes and pilots (carriers at harbor), which meant Japan knew even
surprising the USA was costly. They decide they have to follow their time table
and started to move south (they had a plan after Pearl Harbor attack in OTL, but
it was so successful that the Japanese changed it). Meanwhile, one hour after Pearl Harbor,
the attack on the Philippines began. The British colony of British Malaya. On
December 23rd, the Japanese finished both the Philippines and Malaya
within one hour of each other. With the USA navy crippled and the Philippines
under Japan, the invasion of Wake and Guam began December 25th, which
cut the American communications through out the Pacific. After those islands
fell, the Japanese invaded and secured (with all available forces) Thailand,
Hong Kong, and key strategic points in Asia, and in the Pacific. On February 7th,
the Americans seeing no light in the Pacific, the Japanese recently capturing
and holding Guadal Canal, so USA calls for an armistice (the plan was to wait
until the navy was strong again then take Japan out of the Pacific) which the
Japanese agreed to, saying the Japanese get to keep the Philippines, the Dutch
East Indies, the Bonins, and the Marianas but must leave all the other islands.
The Japanese invasion of China will cease or else… and with no loss of land
for Japan in all of Asia. The Japanese want to keep attacking China but decide
they were lucky US called peace first and want to agree to strengthen their navy
and air force and to consolidate their gains. The Pacific battle is over and USA
is more out of the war then as it began. The citizens are angry with the
government and decide to drive even deeper into isolation. Hitler sighs a big relief that US is
farther out of the war then it began and focuses back on the USSR and to finish
it off. During the winter months, the Soviets were praying USA would help them
by sending supplies, but with USA out of the war, outbreaks all over the USSR
begins, but Stalin quickly crushes it and focuses again on Germany saying ‘we
will win’. On May 4th, the Germans remake their assault but this
time on the caucus area, with 2,000 new Panzer 5 tanks, 1,800 Panzer 4 tanks,
and 32,000 planes. After a long journey, and three months, the Germans were on
the borders of Stalingrad on August 13th, and on August 15th,
the Germans advanced into the city with 900 tanks and 200,000 soldiers. After 4
months, the Germans getting 1000 Panthers every month, the Germans sealed the
city shut while Panzer 5th Division had sealed the Caucus. The
Germans goal was complete and Stalin sensing an up rise in the citizen’s mood
against him, the USSR surrenders on December 25th. The day was known
as ‘The Christmas Miracle’ to both sides as fighting ceased. The Germans
were to keep all occupied land, and the Soviets were to surrender all tanks,
planes, and military factories. With the end of World War 2, the Nazis celebrated a victory feast, while the German Resistance took their chance at the celebration party (as Hitler was now drunk). With Hitler dead, Speer was offered the position but politely refused and made Rommel leader. On December 28th, the German citizens cheer for the heroes of ww2, Hitler dead, and Germany becoming a world power. Rommel immediately releases all prisoners of war, leaves France and Britain (land not token as war prizes) and works on rebuilding the German empires economy. With no Hitler, and no cold war, the world looks devastated, but can recover peacefully.
